In the official announcement of the game on its website, TimeGate Studio CEO Adel Chaveleh made it clear that Section 8: Prejudice would be a unique game in several ways -- first that it would be a full-length, full-feature sequel to the original, but priced at just $14.99 US / 1200 Microsoft Points, and second, that it would be a digital download on PC, PSN, and XBLA rather than following the traditional box on the shelf path that the original game followed. The point that he was making was that a game can be made and marketed at that price point and still make money, a fact that is lost on most of the major studios.
