Dawn of Fantasy

Also for this game:

According to the blokes over at 505 Games, they plan to publish a new massively multi-player online real time strategy (MMORTS) title called Dawn of Fantasy with a target launch date of 3 June 2011.

The MMORTS is being created by developer Reverie World Studios, and is set in the massively multi-player fantasy world of Mythador. At launch time it will be complete with its own living economic, trading, development and diplomacy systems, and players will have the opportunity to leave their mark on the land's war-torn history by creating their own little fiefdoms.

After viewing the preview we can tell you this much: the game offers an interesting RTS experience, combining the MMO with the RTS being the tip of the proverbial iceberg. There are three races -- Human, Orc, and Elven -- and in something of a surprise, it uses an in-game narrative to move along the various plots and keep the player firmly invested in the story.

Like most MMO's DoF features a persistent world, which is struggling with a widely spaced war in the midst of which the players are building, exploring, and fighting together to crush AI controlled strongholds and empires while at the same time creating their own stronghold and place in the world.

This story-driven game builds upon the existing single-player campaign experience following the trend that was pioneered by Age of Empires-like games that are making the switch to online persistent multi-player platforms. The ultimate goal for each player is to create the biggest city-state in Mythador, and based on the limited exposure we have had to the game, it looks to be great fun.

The game was engineered with emphasis upon easy-access, with the base system requirements set as low as possible without compromising the quality of the graphics, so that it is playable on laptops and tablet PC's, with the idea being to make it accessible to the growing segment of the PC population opting for a mobile rather than desktop PC environment.

Dawn of Fantasy is scheduled for release on June 3, 2011, and no word has yet been released on whether there will be a public Beta.
