NBA 2K13 to Take On Social Media with NBA 2K Everywhere

When social media is involved, the NBA is certainly no stranger. Most players have Twitter pages, some are on Facebook and a fair few will be accustomed to those 'apps' that everyone and their pets have installed on their phones. It makes sense then, that for the upcoming NBA sim, NBA 2K13, the publisher of the title, 2K Games, is working on not only a companion app for the game, but a social game on Facebook too, as well as a "full-featured mobile version" of NBA 2K13 for the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch and for Android devices ("available for free on the Amazon Appstore for Android, including a Kindle Fire edition, and on Google Play") too.

Altogether, the project is called 'NBA 2K Everywhere', with the idea that you will be able to take some part of NBA 2K13 'everywhere' with you, even if you're on the go or only have time to go on Facebook. And given that the NBA is so fond of social media, the game that is seeking to emulate the sport in a realistic light will be made all the more authentic for it.

The free NBA 2K13 companion app, called "MyNBA2K" is set to launch in October and will allow players to take part in "a series of entertaining mini-games including shooting practice, free throw drills, a dribbling course, and autograph signing" and is designed to let you continue your MyCAREER and MyTEAM playthroughs from NBA 2K13 even when you aren't at your console/PC to play the game.

The Facebook game, a first for the series, titled "NBA 2K: MyLIFE", offers similar gameplay with 2K Games describing the gameplay as the following, "players can import their MyCAREER avatars from NBA 2K13 to compete in skills competitions with friends, build their home-court environment, and play through experiences of an NBA superstar including earning endorsements and fostering relationships with fellow NBA stars. Accomplishments in NBA 2K: MyLIFE can help unlock clothing, dunk packages, and other rewards in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system versions of NBA 2K13".

Finally, the mobile version of NBA 2K13 will be called just that and will be available on "iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices". Along with multi-touch controls and the NBA's Greatest Mode, which will allow you to take on classic games from the NBA, multiplayer is included too, with players able to take on their friends via Bluetooth or Game Center (iOS).
