Rise of Europe Closed Beta Begins

Shortly after the announcement of the joint project between Perfect World and Travian Games that began with a bit of mystery surrounding it, the project began to take on a more solid form as details -- including the title -- were released. Firmly placed in the strategy game genre, Rise of Europe covers the balance of power in a Renaissance-era Europe in which the leading noble families -- the Medici, the Fuggers and the Tudors -- struggle for wealth and power.

Players take on the role of a member of one of these families, competing with thousands of other players for objectives that include gathering wealth and power, leading their family banner into battle, and obtaining the sort of fame and glory around which the power to develop imposing cities, familial strongholds, and empires is found. Along the way the need to defend that which they have created from intruders and the jealous rivals from the other families (and maybe your own?) can lead to interesting decisions with far-ranging consquences.

It seems that the time has come for a select group of players to begin experiencing that which Perfect World and Travian Games has built, as the closed Beta begins for Rise of Europe. Today, the first players of the Rise of Europe strategy game can enter the Renaissance era at www.riseofeurope.com or www.riseofeurope.de and lead their family to fame and glory. Seriously!

While the Closed Beta testing stage begins today and will run for an unspecified period, the anticipated Open Beta Phase is expected to start before the end of this year.
