Damage Inc. Pacific Squadron WWII
Mad Catz confirmed today that its upcoming WWII based flying combat title, Damage Inc. Pacific Squadron WWII, will be flying into combat on August 28th worldwide for the Xbox 360, PS3, and Windows PC.
Damage Inc. Pacific Squadron WWII is an exciting aerial-combat title with a strong emphasis on multi player. Set exclusively over the WWII Pacific Theatre, the gamer is cast in the role of a plucky young pilot who witnesses the death of his brother at the hands of the enemy fleet, attacking Pearl Harbor on 'The Day of Infamy.'
The game features well in excess of 30 historically accurate aircraft, and genuine missions recreating famous battles of the conflict, but Mad Catz wants you to know that it is NOT a flight sim, rather it is an all-action epic fighting for control of the skies in an arcade-style format. The campaign should last gamers in excess of 10 hours but it's the multi player options which they feel makes the game stand out from the crowd.
The entire campaign features four player drop in/drop out co-op over PSN or Xbox LIVE, and the team based 'Scratch One Flatop' mode sees teams of four protect their own aircraft carrier while taking out their opposing teams.
Perhaps best of all, Damage Inc. launches alongside its very own hardware in the form of the 'AV8R FlightStick' -- though the game is still perfectly playable with a regular controller. The new AV8R is based upon genuine WWII style controls, with the AV8R designed alongside the game with the effect of really transforming the title, creating a unique gaming experience.
Considering that there have been very few really good flight-based combat games for the console platforms, and considering that Damage Inc. is a really good flight-based combat game (we had an intense look-see at this year's E3) this is one of the games launching at the very end of the Summer Doldrums that should have gamers very excited and for good reason! We will keep you informed about further news and, when the game launches, GU will check it out and provide a more detailed take upon it!
