Dust 514
Despite having an entire Icelandic fanfest dedicated to their games, developer and publisher of both space based MMORPG EVE Online and upcoming MMOFPS, DUST 514, CCP, have taken to the floor at the world-renowned gaming convention E3 to reveal a little more about their plans for the latter game.
Scheduled for release at some point during Autumn 2012 is DUST 514 and so CCP have taken the chance to reveal that the game now has an official date for when beta participants will be able to play the game later in the Summer. Set to begin on Friday June 29th is the 'premier beta event', presumably the slightly more closed version of the previously announced DUST 514 beta. CCP also say that this will be the "first of several throughout the summer" so we'll keep you updated when we hear more. You can go here to sign up for a chance to participate in the DUST 514 beta. You can also visit the DUST 514 Space in PlayStation Home for a chance to win one of 10, 000 "all access" beta codes.
Being a PS3 exclusive, it also makes perfect sense for DUST 514 to be available, in some capacity, on Sony's new handheld console, the PlayStation Vita. CCP agree that this is logical thinking and so for Vita players, while not able to access the complete experience that the bigger console offers, they will still be able to join in on the DUST 514 fun via a companion app. The app, to be called "DUST 514: Neocom", allows DUST 514 players to utilise DUST 514's social features such as the in-game messaging system and the friends list. You will also be able to access the DUST 514 marketplace to make purchases with ISK and Aurum on the go. Then there's the customisation options which DUST 514 Neocom allows from the app - with vehicles, weapons and outfits all available for tweaking via the software. DUST 514 Neocom will launch alongside DUST 514 later this year.
The DUST 514 release date is Autumn 2012.
