The first part of the DUST 514 'Welcome to New Eden' dev diary video series informed us that the PS3 exclusive MMOFPS (massively multiplayer online first person shooter) isn't just different because of its connection to the PC MMO EVE Online (the games coexist in space and on the ground) but it's also unique due to the fact that it treats players and characters like real inhabitants of this world rather than recyclable pawns crazed in a frenzy trying to get headshots (as, perhaps, is the case with the multiplayer in games such as Battlefield 3 or Call of Duty).

Developer and publisher of both DUST 514 and EVE Online, CCP, are further hammering that point home with a second endeavor into the dev diary scape with the DUST 514 Welcome to New Eden (Part 2) video which informs us that the planetary soldier boots that we'll be filling in the game are not owned by humans. No, our characters in DUST 514 are enhanced folks from different races - similar to humans but decked out with the latest technological advancements, making them better suited for warfare on foreign, highly dangerous planets where normal humans would otherwise be blown to pieces from the atmosphere alone.
