Resistance Dev Insomniac Games Announces Outernauts for Facebook

Previously known for publishing some of the PlayStation franchise's most successful exlucisve games (such as the Resistance series and the Ratchet & Clank games), May 2010 saw a departure of high-profile developer Insomniac Games from the Sony nest as they parted ways with the company to "reach more gamers". They then went on to land a publishing deal with EA.

Two years later, details of their first game, in partnership with the video game publishing giant, have finally been revealed.

The first Insomniac Games / EA title is called "Outernauts" and is set to be released onto the Facebook gaming platform. They've picked one of the most popular websites to launch their game on, so when they said the wanted to access a wider market, they weren't playing around.

Outernauts is described as an "adventure role-playing game" where the titular Outernauts must capture and train "exotic alien beasts" whilst uncovering the mystery behind the elusive "ancients". Gameplay will include "[harvesting] loot [and fighting] asynchronously alongside or against friends to master a wild, untamed universe".

Outernauts will also utilise Insomniac Games' "immersive storytelling", "unique art style" as well as their "sense of wit", with Ted Price, President and Founder of the developer saying that "[the development team are] confident [that they] can help evolve the definition of a game experience on Facebook".
