FIFA Street
Thwarting the competition with a slew of popular titles, EA have bested their competition, ranking in several top 5 positions in the UK games chart.
On the week ending 31st of March, 4 EA titles, including FIFA Street, Mass Effect 3, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 as well as their annual iteration of football simulation gaming, FIFA 12, despite it being just over 6 months old (which is treated like a decade in the gaming industry).
FIFA Street reigned supreme at number 1 for a second week, the formerly arcade-style kick-em-up taking on a new look with a reboot after the Street series exited a 4 year hiatus. Mass Effect 3 moved up from 3rd place to bag the number 2 position with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 and FIFA 12 at 3 and 5, respectively.
The latter game was only beaten out to get in on the consecutively numbered EA chart sweep, at the position of number 4, by Capcom's newest release, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, apparently the undead are still as popular as ever.
Most surprising of all of this is that 4 out of 5 (excluding FIFA 12) of the aforementioned titles were not available for purchase from the UK's largest specialist video game store, GAME (which recently went through some incredibly harsh financial times) though still managed to blaze up the charts. It just goes to show that EA, with, or without the help of giant retailers, will continue to be massively successful.
