THQ Wireless are bringing our favourite hero Indy to the mobile universe this May with the huge release of “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” mobile game!

“Expanding and renewing our business relationship with Lucasfilm is a real coup for THQ and casual, wireless gamers everywhere,” said Doug Clemmer, president of THQ Wireless. “Star Wars and Indiana Jones remain two of the most popular movie series of all time, with appeal that transcends both time and age demographics. Star Wars is one of our strongest THQ Wireless gaming franchises, and we look forward to building on that success, while we also create the first wireless content based on the adventures of Indiana Jones.”

“Lucasfilm is delighted to continue its relationship with a worldwide publisher of THQ’s caliber,” said Paul Southern, Sr. Director of Domestic Licensing and Marketing. “THQ Wireless has garnered considerable acclaim for its library of wireless Star Wars titles, and we couldn’t be more excited at the prospect of collaborating with them on future content.”

The master of cinema is about to rock your world by releasing his first-ever video game, titled “Boom Blox”, on your mobile! Spielberg has collaborated with EA to bring gamers around the world something fresh and exciting that allows you to wreak havoc by throwing, grabbing, blasting and basically causing as much mayhem as possible! Steven believes “fun” lies in the art of destruction and he promises Boom Blox will keep younger kids and families amused for hours!

The game was originally made with the Nintendo Wii in mind and was supposed to include some kind of amazing head tracking system. Sadly the head tracking was removed and the final version will be available May 8 in Europe, May 13 across Asia, and May 22 in Japan for Wii. The title should hit Australian shores at the end of May, or early June!

To find out more about this game and to see screenshots, head over to my blog at:

So yeah. I went through a few months without doing gaming.
So then some MORON shows me his brand new PS3 and I start to miss it all. So I went out and bought one a few days later.

"Nintendo launched a new Wii Channel in its homeland Japan today according to IGN, called the Television Friend Channel, or Terebi no Tomo Channel, according to IGN. Like the Mii Contest Channel, Everybody Votes Channel, and etc. before it, it’s available for download free of charge.

As you’d expect, the Channel adds a television program guide to Wii, with program information offered up to one week before airing and searches possible by genre and key words. Although it doesn’t matter much to the rest of the world, it covers Chijou Digital, Chijou Analogue, BS Digital and BS Analogue broadcasts.

There’s Nintendo style though, with a ’stamp’ feature allowing you to highlight programs of interest with a Mii-themed stamp, and to be alerted to those highlighted by your friends and family. These are also tracked and the Wii will rate programs out of five stars based on viewer interest.

Some more neat functionality is employed, with the Wii able to send out alerts to mobile phones or email addresses, and the Wii Remote able to operate as a TV remote for channel surfing and volume control. Nintendo achieves this by having the Wii Sensor Bar send out a signal which is magically bounced off a wall and transmitted back to the TV.

Unfortunately, the chances of the Channel making its way to Australia might be slim, with Nintendo of Europe telling Eurogamer that there are “no plans for Europe.”"

Already a firm favourite with Wii owners, Virtual Console is once again expanding its catalogue, this time with the addition of a whole new games format. Later this year, Wii owners will be able to enjoy classic titles from the best selling personal computer of all time, the Commodore 64. These titles join classic gems from the likes of Nintendo, SEGA, Turbografx and NEOGEO already available via the Wii Shop Channel.

The release of the Commodore 64 in 1982 was an historic moment for the computer and video games industry. According to the Guinness Book of World Records it remains the best selling single computer model of all time, with an estimated 22 million units sold. Its immense popularity saw an unrivalled collection of over 4,000 rich games titles released through its production lifetime (1982-1994), helping to establish the C64 as a ‘gamers favourite’. Now, some of the greatest Commodore 64 titles will be made available for Wii owners to download and play via the Virtual Console service.

Among the first titles from Commodore 64 which will be made available on Virtual Console are International Karate and Uridium. These titles will be bolstered by regular updates to the line-up from the Commodore 64 back catalogue.

Virtual Console games from Commodore 64 will be available from the Wii Shop Channel soon and can be downloaded for 500 Wii Points each. Currently these titles will only be available on the European Wii Shop Channel.

The world-wide mobile game market is going crazy at the moment with some analysts claiming the US market alone will rise from less than $800m in 2007 to more than US$3bn by 2012! With figures like this, it's a logical move to get every single game franchise ever known to man, ported over in mobile format, no matter how dodgy it might seem. Disney Mobile have recently announced plans to get the newly revived Turok brand on player's phones quicker then Turok himself could stomp a hole in a raptor's head!

How are Disney going to get a lush shooter with mind blowing graphics onto your phone, whilst still maintaing that epic, cinematic and almost Spielberg-like atmosphere? Beats me. I've seen this formula fail so many times, now whenever I hear about a big name coming to mobile I just sigh and hope for the best. Maybe I'm still hanging onto the N64 version I hold so dearly...

In the mobile version of the game, Turok has to fight his way through the jungle covering a foreign planet. Ten carefully designed levels with multiple routes and secret areas – and including the iconic giant T Rex - ensure that the game offers great replay value. Turok is an epic, story-driven platform game set on a dark, mysterious planet in the future. The player will take on the role of Joseph Turok, a former black ops commando, now part of an elite special forces squad, known as Whiskey Company, which is on a mission to take down Roland Kane and his army, the Mendel-Gruman Corporation. As Whiskey Company’s ship approaches the planet inhabited by Mendel-Gruman, the ship is shot down. Turok is stranded on the planet and must locate other crash survivors while confronting Mendel-Gruman soldiers and a variety of dinosaurs and other ravenous creatures!
