Can someone settle this debate?

My mates and myself are fans of the 'older' WWE days (the late 80's, early 90's when we used to watch it constantly) and we have a 'pub arguement' going on at the moment.

I say that the Rockers were tag champions (only for a few hours or so owing to a broken turnbuckle or something) and he says they were never tag champs.

Can someone please back me up on this? I think im right anyway....

From what I know I'm pretty sure they where, but you might wanna wait for someone else to clear this up also.

Rockers did hold it for a brief while. They beat the Hart Foundation for the titles, where it was later over-ruled and they were stripped of the titles.

I'm only 80% sure they did, but that's good odds. Mitch and Goldy said they did anyway, so that means they probably did.

Ok here's what happened. Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart was jumping from the WWF to WCW so before he went the WWF booked The Hart Foundain against The Rockers. The Rockers won the match but in the match one of the ropes snapped. Just after this, Jim Neidhart signed a new contract with the WWE. The WWF didn't want the Rockers as the Tag Champions when they could have the Hart Foundain as champions. The WWF then used the excuse that due to the rope snapped it was unfair working conditions for the wrestlers so the match should have been stopped. The WWF then said that if the match was stopped the Rockers' pin wasn't in the match so the Rockers' reign as champions was stricken from the record book.
