with a conference team?

At the moment, I'm kicking ass with Forest Green. I managed to sign Tony Warner for 80k over 12 months, and I signed Andy Todd on loan again (until the end of the season). I've made it to the 5th round at the expense of weakened Burnley & Portsmouth sides (suspensions & injuries), and I'm set to get mauled by Liverpool at Anfield :D

I don't usually try that hard in the FA Cup when I'm in the conference mainly because I usually have a very small squad, and I put a few youngsters in the team so I can save my best players for the league. I got to the third round with Doncaster and took Wolves to a replay in the third round, before getting hammered 4-0 at Molineux.

Here's what I do when I start a file with a conference / 3rd division team --> sign players at random.

After signing all the good, young (free) players I know, I just type in random names on the find player screen and check all the free agents. Typing in nationalities like Norweigan/Portugeuse/etc. also helps to turn up classy yet unheard of free players. Most will jump at the chance to play for a wage as small as £400 per week.

They'll help you scalp the odd team in the FA cup, plus you can sell them off for a hefty bit'o cash when you get promoted.
